Introduction to Sculpting Portrait ( Weekend)

This 8 session Ceramic Portrait Workshop is an immersive experience where participants will learn the fundamentals of sculpting human portraits using clay. Over the course of the workshop, they will be guided through the step-by-step process of creating detailed human facial features.

The focus will be on

  • Understanding facial anatomy,
  • Mastering proportion and symmetry,
  • Developing techniques for rendering features with precision by practicing the techniques on a hollow forms

By practicing on a hollow cylindrical form, the participants will not only get a better understanding and hold on the subject but also gain a wider perspective on how they can manipulate it on other forms later on in the workshop. Through hands-on practice and personalized instruction, they will gain confidence in manipulating clay to capture the unique character and essence of a human face.

 

 

Who is this workshop for:

  • People who have done Beginner Wheel Throwing or Handbuilding course
  • This workshop is designed for both beginners and intermediate artists who are passionate about exploring the art of ceramic
    sculpture.
  • It’s suitable for anyone looking to develop or refine their skills in creating portraits.
  • No prior knowledge or skill in drawing is needed
  • Perfect for those willing to bring their creativity and eagerness to learn.

Participants will leave the workshop with a comprehensive set of
skills including:
Understanding of facial anatomy: Knowledge of the underlying structures that define the human face.
Proportional accuracy: Techniques to ensure the accurate scaling of facial features.
Clay handling: Proficiency in manipulating clay to achieve desired shapes and textures.
Detailing: Skills in adding lifelike details to features such as eyes, nose, and mouth
Finishing techniques: Methods for refining and finishing the sculpture for firing.

Take Away - 3 forms having self designed portrait.

Note - Glazing will not be a part of this course. The studio will fully fire the articles.

What's next ?
Upon completing this workshop, participants will be well prepared to take their sculpting skills to the next level. It would be a delight to conduct a Level 2 workshop, focusing on sculpting the head to the shoulders. This next course will build on the
foundational skills acquired in the portrait workshop and introduce more complex anatomical studies, including the neck and shoulders (or upper torso). The Level 2 batch will start from 12th October 2024

 

Meet Akanksha Ramesh,

A distinguished sculptor, who has carved a niche for herself in the world of ceramics. A graduate of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, laid the groundwork for her artistic journey. She further enriched her understanding of the art world by obtaining a Master’s degree in Art Business from Kingston University, London.

For the past five years, Akanksha has immersed herself in the world of ceramic portraiture, a medium through which she masterfully captures the intricacies of human features. Her sculptures are distinguished by their lifelike detail and emotional depth, each piece telling a unique story.  Her journey is a continuous exploration of the human spirit, beautifully encapsulated in the medium of ceramics

 

NOTE:

1Refund

  • On or before 7 days (14th September)  - Full refund
  • On or before 2 days (19th September)  - 50 % refund
  • Cancellation after (19th September) - No refund
  • All the refunds will be processed only after 15 working days post cancellation

2Transfer

  • Transfer to another person - If a person is not able to attend the program for any personal reasons, they can transfer their slot to another person for the program they have registered for, and inform the studio at least 1 day before to add them in the group.
  • Transfer to another class - Transfer to an alternative class date is not possible once you register. You will need to cancel the registration for the existing program (Cancellation and refund policy will apply) and re-register for the new program

3.Missed Sessions -

  • Claystation will schedule  make up session . Kindly  Connect with Studio team
  • Claystation will not offer refunds for the sessions missed
  • Claystation reserves the right to cancel or change the schedule of classes. The participant will receive a full refund in the event of cancellation. However, if the classes are rescheduled, you can opt for shifting to the next batch/postponed date or take a refund.

4.Studio Closure:

  • If the studio is forced to close due to factors outside of our control such as severe weather conditions, or an infectious disease such as Covid-19, we will make an effort to reschedule the paused sessions. However we will not offer any refunds
